Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi was born on September 1, 1970, in Chennai, India. Lakshmi lost her parents at the age of two years old. Her mother emigrated to the United States to escape the stigma of divorce in India. Lakshmi resided in Chennai with her maternal grandparents for two years before she moved to the United States. Both of her parents divorced after that and she has a younger half brother and half sister from her father. Lakshmi, who shares her last name with the Hindu goddess of prosperity and wealth was born in New York and then in Los Angeles with her mother and stepfather. Her family visited her in India several times a year, and then returned for a few months. Padma Lakshmi began to be interested in acting in 1999. She was first seen in the film "Figlio of Sandokan" which was an Italian pirate film. Then, she played a role in the film 'Caraibi' (Pirates: Blood Brothers) which is a period drama about pirates of the 17th century. In 2001, she played a comedy supporting role as a singer in discos in 'Glitter.' Padma is the mother of a daughter named Krishna Thea Lakshmi-Dell with Adam Dell, a venture capitalist. Krishna was born on February 20, the 20th of February, 2010. She also got married to Teddy Forstmann who is the former CEO and chairman of IMG. Lakshmi has a child with American venture capitalist Adam Dell. Though she originally did not reveal the identity of the baby's father a secret, Lakshmi later revealed him to be Dell.
